That Other Gravel Ride

Every Wednesday at Cassiopeia. Meet @ 5:20pm, rollout at 5:30pm

Route: Spicy, Mild

We are hosting weekday group rides open to everyone from Cassiopeia! There is️ only one rule...DON’T KILL THE VIBE! If you are looking to be “champion of the group ride” we will ask that you stay home. If you are looking to have fun, be social and sweat, then hop on and hit the dirt.

All riders should ensure their equipment is in good working order, have a spare tube and bike pump in case of flat, and know how to get back to Cassiopeia. “Spicy” group expectations are that you always practice excellent group etiquette by calling things out, are comfortable riding in large groups, know the route, can average 17+mph in the group, and are ok with being dropped. “Mild” group expectations are that riders improve their group etiquette, practice riding safely, are comfortable riding in medium sized groups, and can average 14-16mph.

That Other Gravel Ride - Ride Policy

The TOGR ride doesn’t have too many rules. We look forward to this part in our season, where we all get together and enjoy the beautiful Boulder evenings and post ride hangs. For the most part we ride rain or shine…because we just love to ride. With that being said, weather is a bit unpredictable when we kick things off, and as we approach Summer, so we thought it best to lay some ground rules.
Rules:

  1. Be adaptive…we change routes, we combine groups and we sometimes go a bit longer than expected. We do this for the safety and morale of the group. All of these decisions are expressed at the beginning of the ride so you have the choice to bail if desired.

  2. We will not ride if the weather is under 40 degrees fahrenheit. Once again, this ride is about community and pure enjoyment. This is not meant to be a training ride.

  3. We do not ride if there is lightning. We won’t judge or tell if you decide to carry on your Wednesday night ride, but your ride is considered unofficial and not led by a member of RDC.

  4. We will make all final decisions by 5pm the night of the ride. These updates will be shared on instagram and our website. If you do not see a cancellation, expect there to be an RDC leader at Cassiopeia to lead you. If weather changes between 5:00-5:30pm, a RDC member will still show up to make the call onsite.

Feeling the vibes? Help us keep them rolling!

If you love what Ride Or Die Collective is about, consider throwing some support our way! Donations help us keep building inclusive, WTFNB+ cycling spaces, hosting rad events, and getting more folks on bikes. Every little bit fuels this movement—and let’s be real, good karma on the bike is priceless.

Fast GRVL

Fast GRVL

When: Thursdays at 5:30 PM starting in April

Where: Eagle Trail Parking Lot

Pace: Race pace on the gravel, 10-15mph rolling regroup/recovery on the road sections in between.

Brief About: If you think you've been on every type of group ride, think again. Fast GRVL, hosted by GRVL DNKYS (an "Okayist Gravel Cycling Community"), is a truly unique and very fun type of group gravel ride. The ride format, going all out on gravel and shutting it down on the road, makes for an action-packed 90 minutes that is surprisingly productive from a structured training/interval standpoint. Expect 15-30 riders of all abilities to show up; the structure of the ride makes this surprisingly inclusive of riders of many speeds (but it is VERY FAST on gravel), thanks to ample rolling regroup opportunities.

Length: 20-30 miles (~90 minutes) of roughly 70% gravel, 30% road.

Updates: Information and updates are primarily communicated through GRVL DNKYS Instagram @grvl_dnkys or their Facebook page

Community Collective Ride

Location: Cassiopeia

RSVP HERE

Routes: Advanced | Intermediate | Beginner

The Collective Ride is a monthly gravel ride that caters to multiple cycling abilities. This ride is focused on community building and inclusion for WTFN-B riders. We offer a safe space for riders looking to meet new allies, share some miles and gain fitness.

RDC will offer multiple pace options. We will have free pre-ride nutrition, free beer and a free post-ride raffle! This is a Women, Trans, Femme, and Non Binary ride. Guys, you’re welcome to volunteer with setup and coordination, but you are not able to participate on the ride.

Each pace group is planning on around 2-3 hours. If you have questions or want to participate but are not sure if you can do the full ride please email us! We want to create an inclusive environment for all WTFNB community members and are happy to modify to your needs. The advanced group will roll first with intermediate and beginner groups following a minute behind.

Minimum recommended donation is $10.

In general our "Advanced" rides typically come with the expectation that participants are comfortable riding in a pack with others, practice good group etiquette, and that they know the route (in case they can't hang on to the pace for the entire ride).  "Advanced" rides are generally appropriate for experienced riders that are looking for a workout, are ok being dropped, and can average 18-20mph+ in a road group and 15-17mph+ in a gravel group.

If you're not comfortable riding in a large pack, or are not sure what pace\effort is appropriate, the "Intermediate" option may a good starting option. Our "Intermediate" rides are very inclusive, and are almost always no-drop or will include a sweep. This group is intended to allow almost everyone to participate and have help (if desired) along the way. This is a great option for those that want to grow, have lots of questions, are looking to focus on gaining confidence, and can average 15-17mph in a road group and 13-15mph in a gravel group.

Our beginner ride is paced for those who are new to group riding or riding in general. This ride is 100% no-drop and is a great place to learn the basics of group riding and skills needed to gain strength and confidence. No prior experience is needed on this ride. All bikes are welcome but we if you bring a TT bike to any of our rides you are not allowed to ride in the aero position out of safety for the other riders.

One ride is not better than the other.  We simply have different expectations depending on what group a rider wants to join. Each group offers different levels of input and growth depending on what a rider is looking for. Stay tuned to our website, and your inbox, for regular updates, tips and insight. Subscribe to our mailing list below!

Fast GRVL
May

Hey Crew,

We wanted to let you know that tonight's ride is canceled due to weather conditions. While mud can be fun when you're riding solo, getting splattered in the face by it for 90 minutes in a group isn't quite the vibe we’re going for!

We hope to see you all next Wednesday for a better ride. Stay safe and enjoy your evening!
